Our brave girl got her Covid 19 Vaccine in the Oud Metha Center

The UAE has recently started offering Covid 19 Pfizer vaccine for kids between the ages of 5 – 12 years old and we booked an appointment through the DHA app. The process was very easy and our appointment was scheduled. We received multiple reminders leading up to the appointment and on the day of the appointment we arrived at the Oud Metha Covid 19 Vaccination site 15 mins before the scheduled appointment time.

There was plenty of parking and we were warmly greeted at the entrance and directed to the registration area. The tent is sparkling clean, filled with balloons and mascots (Masha the bear was on hand to greet us). We were ushered into the registration area and registration was completed in less than 5 mins and we were then whisked into the actual vaccination room. There two very kind and extremely patient nurses, take your emirates ID, double check the information, and prepare to administer the vaccine. The overall process from parking to finish was completed in not more than  15 mins.  Once you finish the injection, you have to wait 15 mins in a room where you can get your arm painted and you get a balloon. And then you are done… until the follow up appointment which is scheduled on the spot although you only receive the confirmation time/date a few days later.

The vaccine status appears in the Al Hosn app within 24 -36 hours.

Top tips:

• Get there a bit early just to find your way to the vaccination tent
• Distract your child post vaccine so they don’t even have time to think about the injection or anything
• Drink lots of water (always a good thing)
